After travelling to several field days across the country, the New Holland Roll-Belt 180 baler touched down in Tasmania at the Agfest field days where Tassie farmers got their first glimpse of the machine.

The field days ran from May 1 to 3.

New Holland Product Manager Tony Peters was on-site at dealer Gaffney Machinery’s stand, where the new baler was displayed, to talk curious show-goers through the machine.

The Roll-Belt baler range consists of two models, the Roll-Belt 150 and Roll-Belt 180, and according to Peters was a major upgrade from its predecessor range, the BR7000 series.

Some of the changes include four belts instead of six, a new dual density system, a new twine wrap system and a new net wrap system offering up to 20 per cent increase in capacity and producing up to 5 per cent denser bales.

He says response to the new machines has been great so far.

"Existing (New Holland) owners are very positive about it. Gaffney Machinery has sold four and the customers haven’t even seen the new baler," he says.

"They virtually bought them off the brochure."

The baler’s next field days appearance will be at CRT FarmFest in Toowoomba which will commence on June 3.
