New Challenger tracked workhorses make Australian debut

Agco tractor brand Challenger is upping the ante by releasing two new tracked tractor line-ups, the MT700E and MT800E in Australia offering up to 637hp of maximum power.

Challenger Tractors product marketing manager Jeremy Duniam says the new tractors have been designed to answer to customer needs for machines capable of performing high-horsepower tasks while providing maximum fuel economy and minimal field compaction.

“Our new Challenger E Series track tractors deliver optimum power transfer, outstanding fuel efficiency, and best-in-class traction and flotation with a smooth, comfortable ride,” he says.

Some of the new tractors’ key features include:

  • New Agco Power engines
  • Challenger Mobil-trac undercarriage system
  • Redesigned high-flow hydraulics
  • Industry-exclusive Pinnacle View cab

Altogether, there will be five new models available in Australia, which are the MT7665E (375hp) and the MT775E (400hp) from the MT700E range; as well as the MT875E (590hp), MT865E (540hp) and the MT855E (490hp) from the MT800E series.

Agco Power

The MT700E series carries the Agco Power 9.8-litre seven-cylinder diesel engine while its big brother, the MT800E series features a 16.8-litre V12 diesel engine with two-stage turbochargers.

Agco says both engine models are capable of generating a long torque curve and high torque rise at low RPMs, offering unmatched lugging ability.

The engine transfers power directly to the Cat powershift transmission which routes the power directly to the final drive without a drop box for fewer parasitic losses with optimum fuel economy and performance.

According to Agco, both engines are backed up by years of rigorous field testing and features common components across the Agco Power family engine line and an extended engine service interval with flexible oil requirements to simplify routine maintenance.

Mobil-trac undercarriage system

Both ranges feature Challenger’s patented Mobil-trac undercarriage system designed to drive optimum power to the ground.

The system features oscillating mid wheels that allows operators to move in challenging conditions while leaving a light footprint.

“The unique Mobil-trac design improves flotation,” Duniam says.

“Growers benefit from better stands, a more profitable harvest and the smoothest ride in the industry.”

A friction drive system eliminates the need for additional horsepower while reducing slippage, while the Marsh Mellow springs reduce vibration for a smoother ride.

Challenger offers a wide range of track options with easy-to-adjust gauge and tension settings to suit different customer needs.

Pinnacle View cab

Challenger has installed the Pinnacle View cab on the E series for superior visibility and comfort.

Agco says the centrally located, spacious cab has been designed with operators in mind. It features intuitive controls, several seating options and an ergonomic layout for optimum comfort.

A powerful lighting package that comes standard allows operators to work during the night.

The E series will be available from end of the month.
