Distributed by WA based machinery dealership Direct Seeding and Harvesting Equipment, the machine is suitable for use on broadacre cropping properties to not only manage stubble but to also sow a wide variety of seeds including wheat, barley, peas, lentils and beans.

The seeder is designed and manufactured by one of South Africa’s leading tillage and seeding equipment companies, Theebo Tech to offer farmers a cost-effective way to carry out conservation tillage without compromise on crop yields.

The implement features a series of tynes, disc coulters, an integrated air seeder and a fertiliser tank for a fuss-free, single pass tilling and seeding operation.

“It is a full parallelogram machine in that the actual seeding boot is independent to the cultivation unit,” says Direct Seeding representative Bob Harrison.

“This machine has a hydraulic down forced ram that holds the pressure on the tynes so we do our cultivation with the tynes, and then the seeds are planted at a set depth controlled by the press wheels.”

The tines are equipped with shears capable of ripping up to 250mm deep without disturbing the top soil excessively. The shears are designed to create an oxygen-rich environment for the seedlings to flourish in.

A row of hydraulic disc coulters at the front of the machine can be used in conjunction with the tynes for thorough stubble and weed management.

Direct Seeding has already sold two machines in Australia this year and will be running demos of the Equalizer Min-Till air-seeder in the Murray Mallee region in South Australia.

“Last year we had the tyne assemblies working in South Australia and Victoria doing trials on properties up to 15,000 acres in size,” Harrison says.

“The machine showed very little wear and had no difficulties in handling the country.

“There is stock available in Australia at the moment… we have this 8-metre machine available and there will also be a 12-metre machine here very soon.”
