Kuhn delivers new VB round balers

Fast, simple and reliable are words agricultural equipment maker Kuhn uses to describe its eight new variable chamber round baler models

Kuhn’s new variable chamber round baler models comprise the 2160, 2190, 22 55, 2260, 2265 2285, 2290 and 2295.

The company claims each provide efficient, yet easy to use techniques including the Integral Rotor and Progressive Density to produce perfectly shaped, consistent bales.

At the lower end, the 2160 and 2190 produce high-quality bales under all crop conditions. A pre-chamber design allows for easy bale start in various crop conditions.

In the main chamber, the ‘Progressive Density’ system works to increase bale density as the bale continues to grow. This results in a very firm bale with a moderate core.

The heavy-duty drive line is simple with only three main chains and has a split drive for the bale chamber and rotor drive. Bales can be wrapped with net and/or twine through an efficient tie cycle.

To better meet an operation’s specific needs, Kuhn offers four different intake options on the VB 2160 and 2155 round balers.

These include an open throat intake design, an OptiFeed non-cutting rotor, or a 14- or 23-knife OptiCut integral rotor.

Meanwhile the VB 2255-2285 models represent the standard AT 10 balers in Kuhn’s variable chamber line and are designed to work in the dry straw, hay and haylage conditions.

The OptiFlow model has an unrestricted intake unit for maximum capacity in all crop conditions while OptiCut cutting devices cut the crop up to max cutting length of 70mm.

The VB 2260-2290 series models are standard ISOBUS balers able to meet the demands of today’s professional farmers and contractors.

At the high end the VB 2265-2295 series are designed for work in the heaviest conditions worldwide. Both models are ISOBUS compatible.

This non-cutting OptiFeet rotor model ensures an enormous throughput capacity. Several OptiCut cutting devices cut the crop up to max cutting length of 45 mm.

Binding using either net or twine is activated to secure the bale as the bale reaches its pre-set diameter a feature also available on the VB 2255-2285 models.

Located at the front of the machine, the binding process can easily be viewed from the tractor seat.

Features of Kuhn’s new VB round balers

Rotors

  • Open Throat
  • OptiFeed
  • OptiCut (14-knife and 23-knife)

Integral Rotor Technology

  • Heavy-duty auger flighting on outer sections
  • Outstanding crop flow to prechamber
  • Increased capacity and efficiency
  • Simple driveline
  • Fewer moving parts

Instant Bale Starting

Bale formation starts in the prechamber, where belts and rollers provide consistent core formation. As the bale grows, the belt tensioning arms are subject to steadily increasing resistance from two hydraulic cylinders and a spring.

Moderate or soft cores can be chosen to meet the needs of your operation. Crop loss is reduced and bale rotation improved as a result of the 3 bale rollers and 5 belts.

Drive System

  • Simple driveline
  • Only 3 main chains (5 total)
  • Heavy-duty bearings
  • Low maintenance
  • Optional automatic chain oiling system

Net & Twine Systems

A twine and/or net system is available on all models

  • Versatility to match needs for all types of crops
  • Easy, front-loading net wrap system
  • Net and twine replacement is simple and effective
