Yamaha RMAX UAV now available for outright purchase

Following its official launch into the Australian market two years ago, Yamaha’s RMAX unmanned helicopter is now available for farmers and landowners to purchase outright.

Previously, the vehicle was only available on a franchisee basis and has been successfully implemented in different agricultural sectors including viticulture; fruit and vegetable production; vegetation control; coastal surveillance and more.

Yamaha says the RMAX is a remote controlled helicopter designed specifically for use on the land.

It weighs 99kg and measures 3.7m in width and 1.1m in height.

The company says the technology allows operators to survey, spray weeds, crops or spread seeds in any terrain in a cost effective and accurate manner.

Liquids and granules can be dispersed across a 400m range from the location of the operator, covering nearly a hectare in six minutes.

Yamaha Sky Division Australia national business development manager Liam Quigley says the company is glad the technology is finally available to the general public.

“We’re proud to be releasing this game-changing technology to the Australian and New Zealand industry on an outright purchase basis,” he says.

“After the purchase we train the new owner and guide them through the stringent CASA requirements then they are free to operate on their own accord.”

Yamaha says this is the first time users will be able to buy this technology from the company outright, including finance and insurance options that Yamaha can offer.
