Product focus: Kioti PX1052 tractor

When it comes to buying a new tractor, most operators look for something that is easy to use, comfortable, responsive, reliable and powerful.

With this in mind, the Latrobe City Council parks team went out and looked at other comparable models before choosing a 105hp Kioti PX1052 tractor.

“The Kioti has the Perkins running gear and that’s been well known and trusted for 60-odd years,” says Latrobe City Council area west team leader Chris Daniel, who has 18 years’ experience driving different brands of tractors.

“It has brilliant fuel consumption, we don’t need ear muffs with the low-noise Perkins engine and there’s no vibration either.

“I have a number of operators so I wanted a tractor that was easy to understand and simple to operate. It’s got great visibility with the wide windshields too.”

The Kioti PX1052 has a four-cylinder diesel engine, power shuttle transmission with 32 forward and 32 reverse gears and hydraulic high/low, and two-speed 540/1000rpm PTO.

The dual remote hydraulic valves can handle a wide-range of attachments and the tractor has a rear linkage lift capacity of 2400kg.

Latrobe City Council bought the Kioti PX to move soil, cut grass and load vehicles.

“It weighs four tonnes and it’s very responsive,” Daniel says. “It does what you want when you want it with the joystick and you don’t need to have it revving hard — about 1600rpm is enough.”

He’s been particularly impressed with the loading function, he adds.

Gippsland tractor dealer Anthony Moscato from Alto Motors in Trafalgar, Victoria sold the Kioti PX to Latrobe City Council earlier this year.
