The John Deere operations centre allows farmers to access information from other John Deere equipment users, to help them better manage their operation.

A new page within John Deere’s digital operations centre that went live recently is now providing information and links to solutions from other companies that are utilising the John Deere open data platform.

John Deere intelligent solutions group software segment manager Kevin Krieg says the new page represents a step forward for Australian farmers and the company itself.

"Farm operators and contractors are able to see what is happening, analyse performance and collaborate with partners to gain insights, increase profits, and direct their plans with more precision in the field," Krieg says.

"Growers will now have the ability to not only use our agriculture data management solution with the John Deere operations centre, but they will be able to customise their own data toolbox."

As an example of this collaborative, open data approach, John Deere is working with a satellite imagery company that is looking to use field boundaries located within the farmer’s operations centre to locate and organise imagery files.

"This is easier and more efficient, because the grower doesn’t have to recreate his entire field setup in multiple systems and the field information can move automatically and securely within the data platform," Krieg says.

"The option to pick and choose the solutions that make sense for an operation with practically no extra effort needed to transfer data between them is key."

John Deere machinery users have the option of using JDLink Connect, which connects John Deere equipment directly to the online operations centre and automatically collects agronomic and machine data, which can then be easily accessed online.
