Deutz says the 9 Series TTV was developed from the ground up, focusing on automation and driver comfort.

With a twin-turbocharged 7.8-litre six-cylinder engine, the 9 Series tractors can produce up to 340 horsepower.

Importer PFG Australia product manager Anthony Darveniza says the engine makes the tractor more than capable of producing enough power.

“It’s got a twin-turbo engine… so one turbo will activate while the other one comes in at higher revs, plus it’s got very good torque at low-end revs,” Darveniza says.

The Deutz common rail and exhaust recirculation system means the 9 Series coming to the Australian market will be at the Tier III emissions standard.

With a continuously variable transmission most of the tractor’s torque is available at only 1000rpm, and the maximum torque between 1200rpm and 1600rpm remains constant.

The redesigned front axle and suspension will improve comfort for the driver, says Darveniza, who also points out the noise-reductive design of the cab.

“One of the main things with this tractor is that it’s got new front axle suspension on it… which gives you more movement and makes servicing easier,” he says.

“The engine and cab are separated, and basically what that does is reduces the noise levels.

“It’s also European-designed, so from an ergonomic and an operational point of view, you’ve got everything on there.”

The model displayed at Elmore was the 9340 TTV, the largest of the range.

“The wheelbase on this tractor is actually a bit deceiving as it’s quite long … which gives you better ride quality,” Darveniza says.

“The wheelbase is longer than our competitor’s tractors, which is a key thing for pulling implements.”

Though it has been available in Europe for a year, the tractor is very new to Australia.

“This is the first time we’ve shown this tractor in Australia, so it only arrived here five days ago,” Darveniza says.

“It’s been out in Europe for about 12 months, but we saw the pre-production models and prototypes back in 2014.”

He says that, due to the size and capacity of the 9340 TTF, it’s best suited to farmers who need serious heavy-duty machinery.

“It’s for a big farmer like a cropping guy or a contractor, who can put on a big square-baler or silage, so it’s for that bigger-scale farmer.”
