PrecisionHawk brings drone data to Australia

Drone data platform provider PrecisionHawk is bringing its business to Australia with the opening of a new Sydney office.

The US-based company will be able to provide the local agriculture industry – as well as the environmental protection and energy industries – with the aerial imaging program it already provides in the US, Latin America, and Europe.

PrecisionHawk’s platforms for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) include DataMapper, the primary data collection tool which allows users to see their property from above and analyse data visually, as well as the LATAS (Low Altitude Traffic and Airspace Safety) platform, which keeps drones manageable and safe.

PrecisionHawk president and co-founder Christopher Dean says it’s important for the company to have a physical presence in Australia.

“Australia is a key market for many of our clients and we are pleased to add the country to our global services portfolio,” he says.

The company also recently announced a partnership with agribusiness Ruralco, which will be assisting in providing PrecisionHawk’s drone data services throughout all of its locations.

“Our relationship with Ruralco brought to light the growing demand for an easy to use, holistic platform for precision farming, and creating this dedicated local presence will enable us to more fully meet that demand and drive the adoption of drone technology even further,” Dean says.

PrecisionHawk Australia managing director Nathaniel Hyde says the data which can be provided by drones should prove invaluable to the agriculture sector.

“The quality of insights that PrecisionHawk is able to deliver is unparalleled for many industries,” Hyde says.

“We have seen time and time again how drones, coupled with the right remote sensing technology and data analytics, are increasing the efficiency and return on investment for users.

“I look forward to working closely with Ruralco and our clients to deliver effective information to businesses across the country.”

Ruralco CEO and managing director Travis Dillon says PrecisionHawk will provide a new way for Australian farmers to track and increase productivity.

“PrecisionHawk’s success stems from their ability to deliver market-leading data and analytics that provide deeper insights into the productivity of a farm,” Dillon says.

“We believe that the launch of a local, PrecisionHawk office will help to more widely propel the adoption of drone technology by our clients and optimise how the agriculture industry uses aerial data.”
