The new Bale Grab work tool from Caterpillar Attachments enables smaller loaders to grasp, carry, and place round or square bales, without damaging either the wrapper or the bale.
Designed for use with any skid steer loaders, compact track loaders, multi-terrain loaders and compact wheel loaders with a universal, skid-steer-type interface, the Bale Grab has a rigid design for heavy-duty service and long-term durability.
“The Bale Grab is designed to provide optimum machine stability when loading or carrying baled material,” Cat says. “Bales of wheat, hay, and other materials for livestock feed or bedding are transported easily to and from the bale wrapper and when moving and storing the material.
“The rounded arm design allows the Bale Grab to firmly grasp round or square bales, whether sitting flat or placed side down.”
The Bale Grab is available with either a 1803mm or 2134mm opening, uses a single hydraulic cylinder to manipulate a variety of bale sizes. Damage to wrapped bales is avoided through a tubular construction.
Hydraulic quick disconnects enable fast tool changes, and Caterpillar says leaks are avoided through the use of Cat XT-3 ES hydraulic hoses — which are wrapped in nylon-woven sleeves — couplings and O-ring face seals.
The Bale Grabs weigh 261kg (1803mm model) and 263kg (2133mm model). Both have a 1090kg capacity.
