John Deere releases 4640 tractor display

The new John Deere 4640 Universal Display gives tractor operators the ability to use the company’s most common and popular applications, including AutoTrac, documentation and Section Control, in a portable display.

The new Generation 4 operating system is designed to improve data collection and application functionality.

“Some enhancements built into the display include more on-screen help and diagnostic information to keep operators running and informed of their display capabilities, simplified Work Setup app with page-by-page navigation, and greater user customisation of run pages,” John Deere production and precision ag marketing manager John Mishler says.

The 4640 display also provides documentation for high-speed planting and nutrient applications, together with data syncing functionalities.

The display is designed to import new customer and product information without the risk of overwriting existing client, farm or field guidance information, according to John Deere.

An additional feature allows for wireless data transfer (WDT), with a data sync feature for automatic documentation transmission to John Deere’s Operations Centre.

A power button has also been added to the back of the 4640 display monitor, so operators can turn off the display or reboot without powering down the tractor.

Improvements to Generation 4 applications such as AutoTrac, Section Control and documentation are said to reduce overlaps and skips, and maximise inputs and field operations.

Precision ag software for the 4640 display is available in only one- or five-year subscriptions with two options: the AutoTrac only; or the Precision Ag Core system that includes section control as well as AutoTrac, which gives customers greater flexibility to match software subscriptions to their needs, Mishler says.

“John Deere is the only supplier to offer machine-based precision ag subscriptions that allow customers to select the software they want and the duration of the subscription,” Mischler says.

The 4640 is available for order now, and is compatible with John Deere’s 30 series, through to the latest 6R, 7R, 8R and 9R series tractors. An extended monitor is also set to be available from mid-July.
