The new A Series tractors follow in the footsteps of the Valtra S,T and N series which have all transitioned into their fourth generation.

The previous A Series generation only offered two models producing between 88 and 103 hp, however the growth in the market and the increasing variety of applications has pushed the Finnish Valtra to expand to seven models and a greater horsepower range.

AGCO Power Stage 4 engines power the new-generation A Series models. The three smallest models feature three-cylinder 3.3-litre engines, while the four larger models use four-cylinder 4.4-litre engines under the bonnet.

All models are tier 4 final emissions compliant, thanks to AGCO Power’s efficient and space-saving SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system; except for the A74 model, which instead is fitted with a cooled EGR system.

Valtra says the new engines, combined with high-pressure common rail injection systems, produce high levels of power and torque.

Other features of the new A Series tractors include a fresh modular chassis design that enables a broad model line-up to be manufactured efficiently and without compromising any features.

It comes in a short chassis with a 2,250mm wheelbase (A74, A84, A94), a medium chassis with a 2,430mm wheelbase (A104, A114), and a long chassis with a 2,500mm wheelbase (A124, A134).

Transmission wise, the new A4 Series has 12x12 gear box, with six gears in two ranges to reduce overlaps and minimise range changes. The new A Series has a top speed of 40km/h.

The three short chassis models offer 540/540E PTO speeds, while the four larger models offer a three-speed option.

The three-cylinder models have a limited slip differential in the front axle as standard, with an option to fit the Hi-Lock hydraulically activated differential lock. Hi-Lock is standard on the four-cylinder medium and long chassis models.

The four-cylinder models also come fitted with a dual pump hydraulic system which is capable of producing 98L/minute. The long chassis models come with a lift capacity of 5.2 tonnes.

The new A4 Series has also features a new cab design.

"The new cab is both comfortable and ergonomic, making the tractor pleasant and easy to use," Valtra says.

Inside the cab you will find electronic controls for the 4WD, diff lock, power lift, hand throttle, engine RPM memory button and PTO.

The new A4 Series is expected to arrive in Australia and New Zealand during the middle of the year and will be featured at major field days and events throughout the region.
