John Deere has launched two higher capacity self-propelled sprayers with new spraying technologies, set to hit our shores early next year.
A new nozzle control system designed to cover paddocks efficiently and minimise overlaps will be installed on two new models of self-propelled sprayers, to be launched in Australia early next year.
The new 4000 litre capacity R4140i and 5000l capacity R4150i will use the John Deere ExactApply nozzle control system, offering simple section control and individual nozzle control, with more precise application management.

ExactApply uses a GPS-based section control system to control each nozzle individually, depending on a programmed application rate or preferred speed – as well as allowing the operator to change nozzles manually from the cab.
The system can also maintain droplet size while changing speed through the use of pulse width modulation (PWM) technology up to 30 Hz.
With PWM enabled, turn compensation ensures that application rates remain consistent across the full boom width even when turning the sprayer.
John Deere says the technology will create savings in crop protection products while increasing yield by up to three per cent by keeping over and underdosing to a minimum.
Both the R4140i and R4150i will have the JDLink telematics system available as standard, including free activation for five years, as well as an upgraded lighting package to improve visibility at night and a new 50 km/h transmission option.
Both models will use the PowerSpray solution system, with direct rate control for fast filling and more accurate application, while Deere’s automated AirRinse system will reduce the solution system;s dead volume to as low as five litres.
The R4140i is available with a choice of carbon fibre or steel booms while the R4150i is available with carbon fibre only – and both are available from 24m to 36 m wide.
The operator environment has also been improved, with a new generation operator interface including a John Deere universal 4640 display mounted on a new armrest.
