Fendt wins Tractor of the Year

Total tractor glory for Fendt and its 942 Vario, after it took out the prestigious Tractor of the Year 2020 award at Agritechnica 2019.

 

The German company nudged out some tough competition, beating the Case IH Magnum 380 CVX drive, the Class Axion 960 Terra Trac, the McCormick X7.624 VT Drive and the Valtra N154e Versu.

The TOTY jury — which is comprised of 25 European journalists —was impressed with the 942 Vario’s level of connectivity, the optimisation of its 9-litre MAN engine and its innovative hydraulic system that includes two separate high-flow circuits.

This is the sixth Tractor of the Year win for Fendt since the awards induction in 1998, having previously won in 1998, 1999, 2003, 2010, 2015.

The day kept on getting better for Fendt, with the company also taking out the Best Utility Tractor of the Year award with its Fendt 314 Profi + tractor. 

“This tractor brings into the market an innovative new boost system called Dynamic Performance which provides extra-power regardless of the task including stationary Pto’s works,” TOTY says of the Fendt 314 Profi + tractor.

The Fendt 314 Profi + tractor beat out the Kubota M 4071, the New Holland T5.140 DynamicCommand, the Steyr 4230 Expert CVT and the Valtra A114 HiTech 4.

While New Holland and its methane powered tractor took out the very first Sustainable Tractor of the Year, beating the electric-powered Rigitrac SKE 50 and Fendt e100.

New Holland also took out the Specialised Tractor of the Year award for its T4.110N tractor, squeezing out the Carraro V75 Compact, the Massey Ferguson 3709 Alpine and the Frutteto 100 ActiveSteer from Same.

Judges praised the T4.110 N’s suspended axle “TerraGlide” system, which is available either with or without brakes – whcih the company sayus is a turning point in terms of comfort and agility.
