Serafin extends reach with Ultisow High Lift

New seeder frame offers higher clearance for maintenance and in-field adjustments.

Tillage equipment manufacturer Serafin Machinery has launched a new frame for its Ultisow single disc seeders which it says will make maintenance and in-field adjustments easier.

The Ultisow High Lift Frame can be raised about 1m higher than the standard bar – to an under-bar clearance height of 1.6m, putting the row units at a much more comfortable height to work on.

Serafin says it completed the remodel in response to customer demand, and making access to row units easier was the first item on the list.

Company sales manager Rodney Dunn says the low clearance on the model had made it difficult to get work done.

“We spent a lot of time in the past 8-9 years making the row units a lot easier to work on, and require less maintenance, but never really addressed the whole access issue with as much as we have with this frame now,” he says.

“It is all at waist height and it is going to be a lot better from a serviceability point of view – but it is also going to be better from an operator standpoint to get in and do that without having to squeeze in and around it.”

The redesign follows upgrades to the SB2019 single disc opener released last year. Check out our story here.

A second key point of the frame redesign is its customisation options – the frame can be built with either two or three ranks of row units which could then allow row spacing down to 150mm without compromising trash clearance.

“Previously a standard Serafin Ultisow could achieve 158mm spacing over 2 rows but the spacing was very tight,” the company says.

“Adding the option for a third row has given them the ability to offer slightly narrower row spacing whilst keeping the units open enough to work on easily.”

Currently available in either 9m or 12m sowing widths, the frame is built from powder-coated, 9mm thick steel, and can be used wither with or without a rolling bar.

The frame also has 3m wheel centres for those using controlled-traffic farming methods.

The Ultisow High Lift Frame will be available from Serafin dealers for this year’s sowing season.
