Antonio Carraro has brought three new compact tractors into the Australian market in a pitch to meet growing demand

New in Australia, Antonio Carraro’s new supercompact TRX 5800 tractor brings high-end options from orchards and vineyards to small farms across the country.

Equipped with a 50 horsepower (37kW) engine and a mechanical transmission with 16 forward and 16 reverse gears, the tractor is agile in confined spaces, thanks to a short wheelbase and a very tight turning radius.

The TRX 5800 also features a reversible pneumatic driving seat to help the operator get around difficult spots, a factor which company sales and marketing manager Marco Corra says fills a gap in the company’s product range.

“We are expecting it to be our workhorse in terms of sales in the year ahead,” he says.

The tractor has a 2,200kg lifting capacity, with more robust lifting bars available for heavier loads and more demanding processes – while an optional uprated oil pump offers flow rates of up to 43 litres per minute for use when ploughing or pulling/pushing a heavy load.

The central articulated joint on the tractor’s trademarked Actio frame offers longitudinal oscillation of up to 15 degrees, while its 4 wheel drive gives it enough traction and grip to handle difficult slopes.

Equipped with a spacious driving platform that insulates the driver from the transmission both thermally and acoustically, the tractor also has a new generation dashboard showing the power take-off revolutions, the forward speed and the working hours, among other things.

Joystick controls are available as an option as is an air-conditioned closed cabin, while the operator is protected from dust ingress by a suspended pedalboard that does not have any gaps towards the ground.

AWARD WINNER

Also set to arrive this year is the 75hp (56kW) 7600 Infinity model tractor, which took out the Innovation Challenge Award at Italy’s Enovitis in Campo trade fair and the Technical News Competition at Agrilevante, also in Italy, in 2019.

With a lift capacity of 2,400kg and available with either a rollbar, an open cab with windscreen or Antonio Carraro’s Starlight closed cab, the tractor also comes with Uniflex suspension, allowing for part of the weight of any equipment to be transferred to the tractor’s wheels.

The 7600 will be available in two models – the TR, equipped with reversible isodiametric steering for slopes and confined spaces such as vineyards; and the articulated SR, with a particularly narrow track useful for providing agility in the hallways between the rows and manoeuvres in very tight spaces.

Both models are equipped with the Infinity transmission system, with two mechanical speed ranges (0-15 and 0-40km/h), each offering three hydrostatic speeds, which can be engaged while travelling without loss or traction or power interruption.

This transmission can eliminate the use of the clutch, greatly simplifying manoeuvres and comings and goings in rapid sequence – a trait that can be useful in the handling of materials (or fruit) between the rows.

Further to this, all functions of the Infinity transmission are digitised, with the option to choose between four different modes of advancement of the tractor and engine revolutions as needed.
