Massey Ferguson big mower conditioner debuts

Massey Ferguson’s new mower conditioner is built big to create fast-drying windrows that are easy to collect

The new MF 1316S RazorEdge Pull-Type disc mower conditioner will help operators cut and condition more hectares every day, Massey Ferguson says.

Built to replace its MF1395 as the largest model in the 1300 RazorEdge series of heavy-duty, fully welded-frame pull-type mower conditioners, the new model has been designed to achieve a faster throughput.

To do this, the 4.9m mower conditioner comes with a new range of belt-drive augers to move the crop quickly to the conditioners, helping create uniform windrows that dry faster and more evenly.

Fully enclosed crop conveyers (cages) outside the augers also prevent crop wrapping and build-up.

Using a system unique to Massey Ferguson, the 1316S uses a self-adjusting spring tensioner so operators can set and maintain belt tension more easily.

The system helps move the crop quickly from the outside discs to the conditioner, creating a cleaner cut, better windrow formation and less opportunity for leaf damage.

This helps reduce drying time, making it easier to create dense, high quality hay or forage bales, the company says.

The RazorEdge cutter bar, used across the 1300 range, boasts a spur gear design that helps provide close cutting without tilting the header, to minimise scalping and reduce the amount of dirt and debris collected.

Cut quality is improved by its 10 counter-rotating discs and 18 degree, bottom-bevel knives – with a wear-resistant edge that maintains its sharpness longer than ground-edge knives, MF says.

And maintenance is simplified, with a new side panel making for easy servicing of the drive belts, while the gear design enables gears to be removed without splitting the cutter bar.

The new mower conditioner range is available from Massey Ferguson dealers across Australia.
