Reeler change for SlurryKat

Double drive system offers more power for slurry spreading, with front reeler changes made to save time and effort, company says

Slurry equipment manufacturer SlurryKat has launched a new series of front reeler models which the company says have been redesigned following customer feedback.

The company launched an injector and hose reeler combo back in 2018. Check out our story here

SlurryKat chief executive Garth Cairns says the reels have a completely new design, with high grade steel for lighter weight and increased strength.

“We have manufactured the reels 30 per cent lighter than the very successful previous generation of SK front reelers which we designed and introduced in 2008,” he says.

Three models are available in the new range, with hose capacities of 600m, 800m and 1000m; all with spools galvanised as standard and with two-pack paint on the chassis.

Each model is equipped with new coupling sockets that clamp the hose for the start of the rolling up process without the coupling being displaced.

The reelers are open section as standard with bolt-in adjustable sections. Each section can be placed to the desired width and adjusted by sliding it along the reel by simply loosening the two bolts.

They also have new ergonomic fastening hooks on the sections and the reel ends for tying the hose ends to after hose recovery has been completed.

The powered drive system has also been improved giving more torque for rolling hoses; and a double drive system, using two high powered Danfoss hydraulic motors, can be added for the 600m and 800m versions when using six inch hoses.

Available as standard on the 1000m model, the double drive system can reel up larger hoses, even when slurry is left in the hose.

When parked and detached from the tractor, operators will only need to use two parking stands, rather than the previous four – a change made to help save valuable time when coupling and uncoupling, Cairns says.

Parking ground clearance to the linkage pins has been increased by 200mm meaning large tractors with bigger front tyres can couple and uncouple without having to sets the reelers up on blocks.

“This was an issue on the previous models as the front linkage on the bigger tractors does not lower as much as those on smaller tractors,” Cairns says.

“Listening to feedback from the customers we were happy to implement those design improvements.”

SlurryKat products are distributed in Australia through Saunders Ag Contracting, based in Victoria.
