The flagship of Case IH’s tractor fleet has been given a glow up, integrating AFS Connect technology for the first time.

ase IH’s Steiger series has been revamped for Australian and New Zealand farmers and will include new features such as a redesigned cab, a new operating system and receiver and the next-generation connectivity technologies of the AFS Connect systems.

The introduction of the AFS technology follows the launch of the Case IH Magnum series last year, which included similar additions; however, the new Steiger range will benefit from additional horsepower under the hood.

Case IH Australia/New Zealand Steiger product manager Jason Wood says the new Steiger series will propel the range into the future.
“Like the AFS Connect Magnum, this new Steiger represents the future direction for the entire Case IH tractor line-up,” Wood says.

“From the design upgrades and enhancements to the suite of new technology driving new levels of efficiency and productivity, the AFS Connect Steiger delivers the connectivity that enables producers to control and oversee their operation from not only the tractor cab, but from home, in the shed, or wherever they may be.

“The power, durability and efficiency that have been the hallmarks of the Steiger range for more than 60 years remain the same, but these latest technology enhancements only amplify its appeal to the customer looking for a tractor that can tackle the biggest and most demanding of tasks.”

The new Steiger range offers between 400-600hp of power — depending on the model — and comes available in wheeled, Quadtrac or Rowtrac configurations. Two transmission options – a 16-speed PowerDrive Powershift option, or Continuously Variable Transmission (CVTDrive) for more simple operations are also available.

AFS Connect uses GPS and cellular technology to send and receive up-to-the-minute information on equipment and is powered by three different system components.

AFS Pro 1200 Display which uses the new AFS Vision Pro operating system allows for great visibility at any time of day and features components like exterior camera feeds, Bluetooth connectivity and remote display viewing.

While the AFS Vector Pro receiver streamlines guidance correction options for the equipment which can be corrected across a range of accuracy levels – AFS1 (base), AFS2 (medium) and RTK (high).

The AFS system in the Setiger series range is all accessible through a 12-inch display within the tractor cab, which also has been redesigned to emphasise comfort, simplicity and control.

New components of the cab include an ergonomic armrest with eight control buttons, new heating, ventilation and air conditioning, leather seats and 29 power connectors and diagnostic ports to cater for any devices required to operate the machine.

Additional updates include an advanced steering solution with adjustable steering rates to increase manoeuvrability and 360-degree performance lighting to help visibility and adjustable telescopic mirrors.

Wood says the AFS system and cab improvements are a game-changer for the Steiger compared to previous iterations of the range.

“The enhanced level of connectivity in the Steiger sets these tractors apart, providing more support features, reducing downtime and maximising productivity,” Wood says.

“From the remote service support that allows dealers to remotely identify maintenance and service needs, to the ability for business owners and managers to monitor operations – from outside the cab – these AFS Connect tractors are game-changers for our industry.”

The new Case IH Steiger range is available across Australia and New Zealand now and will be on display at the 2021 Sydney Royal Easter Show.
