Kymco adds new quad bike, updates another

Presented by

Quad bike manufacturer Kymco has updated its range – adding a new midsize model and putting a host of new features on its existing flagship model.

Kymco’s MXU 700i LE EPS is the model which has been updated while the MXU 550i EPS is their newest addition to the range.

Importantly, both machines will meet the stage one requirements of Australia’s new safety standards, which come into effect later this year.

Both quad bikes are single-cylinder and liquid-cooled.

The new 550 has 25Kw (34hp) and 39Nm of torque and will sit between the 700 and MXU 400 in Kymco’s range.

The 550 also offers a 501cc engine, CVT automatic transmission, four-wheel independent suspension, on-demand 2WD and 4WD, linked hydraulic disc brakes, front protector bar, under seat storage and 427kg towing capacity.

These features all apply to the updated 700 model as well, albeit the larger quad bike has a 659cc engine and 467kg towing capacity.

The increased towing capacity is one of the upgrades on the 700, alongside additional ground clearance, greater fuel capacity, anti-theft steering lock and relocated fuel cell for better weight distribution.

Points of difference between the two models include 30cm steel wheels on the 550 and 35cm alloy on the 700, 63cm tyres on the 550 compared to 66cm on the 700 and the addition of a winch on the 700 model.

Kymco quad bikes are distributed in Australia by Melbourne-based Mojo Motorcycles.

The 550 retails at $11,490 and the 700 is $13,990.

Kymco has also added a number of updates to its MXU 700i LE EPS model
