Great Plains Ag unveils Max-Chisel disc ripper

The new ripper works the soil more aggressively, but leaves behind a smooth finish, the manufacturer says

Great Plains Ag’s newly released Max-Chisel disc ripper will leave farmers with smoother and more uniform fields as they prepare their soil for planting

Great Plains Agriculture has unveiled its new Max-Chisel disc ripper, which boasts three work zones and can rip up to 12 inches deep.

The disc ripper is also capable of effectively burying residue, leaving behind a level and uniform field for farmers as they prepare their soil for planting.

The Max-Chisel disc ripper is available in two rigid models which range from 3.51m to 4.27m, and four folding versions which range from 5.03m to 7.32m.

All models can be hydraulically adjusted to alter the disc gang depth control and heavy-duty toggle-trip reset shanks.

Great Plains product manager John Moloney says the Max-Chisel’s samurai edge blade makes the disc ripper ideal for burying residue and decomposition.

“The benefit of the exclusive samurai edge with unique mounting configuration, means residue is anchored into the top four to five inches of soil, creating optimum conditions for future crops,” Moloney says.

“The Max-Chisel works the soil more aggressively than a traditional chisel but leaves the surface level enough for a single-pass tool, finishing the field ahead of planting,” Mr Moloney said.

“Heavy duty toggle trip shanks with an industry-leading 1,111kg horizontal trip force allows deep loosening of the soil down to 30.5cm depth. A patented rear chopper reel and roller attachment ties down residue, smoothens the surface and breaks clods for an excellent finish.

“Walking tandem axles maintain consistent main-frame height for accurate, uniform tillage depth, while the single-point depth stop allows the user to adjust depth across the entire width of the machine in one convenient place.”

Great Plains Ag is distributed throughout Australia by Kubota with equipment, including the Max-Chisel, available through its dealer network.
