New 4×4 ‘Grenadier’ set for Australian market in 2022

Australian farmers will now have another choice for utility vehicles for use in the field after INEOS Automotive unveiled their new Grenadier 4x4 wagon today.

The new INEOS Automotive Grenadier 4×4

Designed to incorporate the best parts of a traditional four-wheel drive, the Grenadier will first be offered as a two-seat, five-door wagon, however INEOS has revealed plans to launch a dual-cab 4×4 ute later in 2022.

The Grenadier will be on sale through a strategically located agent network across Australia and New Zealand from July 2022 with delivery of the first units expected for Q4 next year.

Online reservations for the Grenadier opened on September 30 for customers who had already shown interest in the model, before opening to the public on October 14.

INEOS Automotive head of sales & marketing, Justin Hocevar, says the Grenadier is designed to appeal to the adventurous four-wheel drive enthusiast.

“Like many great ideas, the idea was born out of a conversation at a pub with some mates where they were sort of lamenting the demise of many iconic 4x4s,” Hocevar says.

“Increasingly, 4x4s have become more like SUV-like and no longer served the purpose of what people wanted

“What we have learned from our research… there seems to be a lot of people hanging on to products longer than they would have because they’ve felt like they’ve been a little bit left behind.”

Available in either diesel or petrol – both options have been priced identically and with no discrimination – the Grenadier will cost around AU$84,5000 rrp for base model, with optional extras increasing.

The Grenadier will be available for sale at dealerships in July 2022

Parts have been supplied from a variety of sources across the globe which INEOS hopes will create an overall well-performing vehicle. For example, the 3.0L six-cylinder engine and powertrain have been sourced from BMW while the dampers and gearbox were sourced from ZF.

Purchasing of the Grenadier can be made either online or face-to-face using an initial 20 specialist INEOS distribution agents across the country.

The 20 agents are expected to be within a reasonable distance of 80 per cent of the Australian population, however INEOS will expand that figure to as many as 38 across the country to serve 98 per cent of its customer base in year three.

At the time of launch, 16 retail outlets have reached agreements to be agents for the Grenadier, with locations confirmed across most metropolitan areas in the country as well as places such as Port Macquarie, Shepparton and Launceston.

Having also confirmed an aftersales blueprint with Bosch, servicing of Grenadiers will be performed by ‘hand-picked’ Bosch car servicing sites as well as interactive 3D workshop manuals and parts catalogues online.
