McCormick debuts X8 tractor

With its largest ever models and a redesigned cabin, McCormick’s new X8 series promises to allow the operator to carry out big jobs in comfort.

The new McCormick X8 range is the most powerful the company has produced

McCormick’s newest range of tractors is the most powerful ever produced by the Italian manufacturer, and the first units are due to arrive in Australia next month (December) through local distributor Clark Equipment.

The X8 series will include three models ranging between 264hp and 310 horsepower (194–228kW) and boasts a completely redesigned cabin.

The tractors are powered by 6.7-litre, six-cylinder Iveco engines and have VT-Drive four-stage continuously variable transmission.

The X8’s hydraulic system features up to six rear-mounted remote valves, a three-way flow  divider, two mid-mounted and three front- mounted remote valves, all of which are controlled electronically and can be configured by the  tractor’s touch screen monitor.

The system provides a total flow of 212L/minute and supplies 140L/minute to the 11 valves.

As part of the emphasis on power, McCormick has designed the X8 to have a rugged chassis and heavy-duty front axle with independent wheels and a turning circle of only 11m.

This has resulted in a weight distribution of 45 per cent at the front and 55 per cent at the rear, helping to reduce soil compaction.

More of the tractor’s power is transferred to the ground, which also helps to reduce cabin vibration and increase comfort.

Another area where the X8 excels, and which  McCormick has placed particular emphasis, is inside the cabin.

The premiere cabin, described by the  manufacturer as “your new office in first class”, is packed with features to make an operator’s day more comfortable.

Rear hinged doors provide complete and  unobstructed visibility while cabin access is  enhanced by both wide steps and the passenger seat folding away.

A sound insulation system helps to keep the noise levels at only 70dB.

The swivel seat has automatic adjustment, anti- vibration and backrest heating and ventilation.

Comfort is also enhanced by an ergonomically designed controller with all major tractor functions.

A fridge compartment, 12V charging sockets,  Bluetooth stereo and climate control round  off a cabin that McCormick has put plenty of time into.

The three models in McCormick’s new range are the X8.660 (264hp/194kW), X8.670 (286hp/210kW) and X8.680 (310hp/228kW).

The maximum torque ranges from 1,132Nm to 1,282Nm and all three models are fitted with 550L fuel tanks.

McCormick tractors are distributed in Australia through Clark Equipment.
