Amazone adds precision sprayers to UX range

German manufacturer Amazone has become the latest to introduce precision spraying technology, while also adding two new sprayers to its UX range.

Amazone’s UX8601 Super has a 9000L tank capacity and is the biggest sprayer in the range

These new sprayers were announced at a global launch event, where the manufacturer showed off a suite of new products and innovations that will be shown at next year’s Agritechnica.

Australian release dates for the new equipment are still to be finalised, with some products unlikely to see a Down Under launch – however its precision sprayer range is currently distributed locally.

Hardi and Goldacres are among the other companies to launch technology in this field to Australian farmers in the past few months.

Amazone’s SmartSprayer technology, which the company says can do ‘green on green’ spraying and identify weeds in real time, claims to reduce herbicide use by 90 per cent.

Amazone’s offering uses Bosch camera technology – and the Xarvio decision-making engine from agtech company BASF Digital Farming Solutions.

Amazone says a "new generation of booms" has been developed to ensure maximum accuracy when spraying.

"The newly-developed high-tech sprayer

boom has the camera and lighting modules integrated in such a way that they are ready for field use and ensures precise spot application

via the ContourControl active boom guidance system and the SwingStop active vibration damping system, which is unique on the market," says Amazone.

"The combination of individually switched pulse width frequency modulation valves and specially coordinated agrotop spot fan nozzles at a 25cm nozzle spacing ensures precise spot application and maximum saving potential at working speeds of up to 12km/h."

Weeds can be detected in milliseconds using Bosch’s image recognition system, the company says, while the ideal settings and herbicide mixtures are calculated using the Xarvio engine.

Amazone says there will be a "gradual market introduction" of the SmartSprayer technology, which has already had extensive field trials.

To complement the new technology, Amazone has also launched two new sprayers – the UX7601 Super and UX8601 Super, which have capacities of 8,000L and 9,000L, respectively.

These have been added to the manufacturer’s UX sprayer range, which already featured the 4201 Super, 5201 Super and 6201 Super.

Amazone has highlighted the compact nature of the single-axle sprayers, alongside the low centre of gravity for stability.

Designed for maximum stability and ideal weight distribution, Amazone says the sprayers have the highest tank capacity allowable on one axle.

They feature a 250L/min spraying pump and 350L/min agitation pump.

Both sprayer models can be equipped with Amazone’s HighFlow intelligent control technology, to provide higher working speeds at wider boom widths.

This technology also enables both pumps to be used for spraying while maintaining a high agitation intensity.

Both sprayers are operated via the SmartCenter, with three levels of operating system including one with fully automated filling and cleaning processes via a touch terminal.

Another highlight of the UX7601 Super and UX8601 Super is a newly developed frame, which leads directly from the axle to the lower hitch drawbar. They can be equipped with a rigid or steered axle.

Amazone products are distributed in Australia and New Zealand by Landpower.
