Mammut SF280 Gigant silage distributor up to 40 per cent faster

Operating faster and with lower maintenance needs, the Mammut SF280 Gigant silage distributor impresses with a number of features.

The action of the Mammut Gigant is safer for the tractor operator, and produces high quality silage

Australia’s first owner of a Mammut SF280 Gigantsilage distributor claims the machine does the job 40 per cent faster.

Wayne Marshall from Bundy Ag Contracting says his first involvement with the Austrian manufacturer came from several trips to Europe, which is where he first discovered the SF280 and eventually purchased the first one which was brought to Australia.

He says the process takes about 40 per cent less time for both fine and long chops, while also praising the safety features.

“The rotary action of the distributor helps greatly with thefit and trim to fit the tarps,” he says.

“There’s no leaning out of the stack, which makes it very safe, and it is easy to control the rolling depth for every load which makes a very compact product.

“The Gigant virtually builds the stack itself.”

The SF280 Gigant weighs 970kg and has a 1280mm drum diameter, 3500mm working width, up to 20 degree swivel range when fitted with optional equipment.

Even as a contractor using the machineheavily, Marshallsays the machine’s maintenance requirements are low.

He also says he has never had a job spoiled because the machine aerates the silage and dries it to the perfect moisture content level.

“We get much more throughput with this machine, a faster roll, and very neat dressing,” he says.

“The silage wagons can be unloaded quickly, with no need to have self-unloading or a feeder at the rear, which also saves toward the cost of the Mammut.

“Going to all that effort –and risk –to get your silage done, to only find that it spoils, is a waste of time and energy.

“The quality is brilliant, and you aresafe which means you are fast.”

Mammut products are imported into Australia exclusively by Victorian-based Gendore Group
