Pöttinger releases new Aerosem seed drill

A redesigned front hopper and a compact design will help the new 6m Aerosem seed drill better meet farmer needs, Pöttinger says

Pöttinger has released a 6m folding version of its Aerosem FDD pneumatic seed drill, which it says will offer the highest flexibility with maximum output.

The Aerosem 6002 FDD will sport a redesigned front hopper that Pöttinger says gives it the power to convey an even higher flow rate of seed to the coulter rail.

The front hopper is now available with capacities of either 1,700L or the 2,400L large tank version, both fitted with full-length, airtight covers.

The 6m folding version joins the 4m and 5m seed drills that were already in Pöttinger’s arsenal.

A redesigned front end means a higher flow rate of seed

Pöttinger highlights the “short and compact design” of the power harrow and coulter rail on the new model, which it says has put the machine’s centre of gravity very close to the tractor’s rear axle.

Another area Pöttinger believes its new model stands out in is reliability – saying the company’s “main focus” was ensuring continuous operation for users even during long days in difficult conditions.

Safety and accessibility have also been areas of interest for Pöttinger, with features including two steps on the service platform to provide better visibility into the hopper when filling.

When the front hopper is selected, users have the choice of either the single metering unit or dual metering system.

Pöttinger says single shoot metering means seed, fertiliser, companion crop and micro-granules can all be placed into the seed slot in one step, ensuring maximum flexibility.

Mechanically, the coulter rail is mounted on the power harrow using a docking system that is designed for quick fitting and removal.

The counter rail and distributor head can also be quickly removed from the power harrow, allowing the latter to be used independently and immediately.

A patented linkage system ensures the distributor head is kept in a vertical position to deliver perfect lateral distribution, while the double disc coulters are offset at 30cm to ensure precision seed placement.
