John Shearer unveils new airdrill

With a choice of openers and a two-compartment hopper, John Shearer’s new AS2400LT airdrill offers new options for the farmer, which they can control from inside the tractor cab

John Shearer has unveiled its latest electric drive mounted airdrill, which it says is ideal for farmers with small- to medium-sized holdings.

The AS2400LT airdrill is electrically driven, replacing traditional chains and sprockets to reduce maintenance demands of the equipment. The new electric drive means operators can stay in control from inside the tractor cab.

Available in 47-row, 40-row or 35-row specifications, the machine boasts sowing widths of 5.875m, 6m and 6.125m respectively. However the 40-row, 6m sowing width model is available with spacing options of 125mm, 150mm or 175mm.

The AS2400LT airdrill is available in a range of sowing widths

Equipped with folding wings, making it narrow when transporting but wide while sowing, the AS2400LT boasts folded width of 2.8–2.98m, meaning it is compliant with transport regulations.

The machine’s two-component hopper can be filled with seeds or fertiliser to a total capacity of 2,400L and has been designed to ensure a fast and easy clean-out.

Further to this, no roller change is required when switching from fine to course product.

Operators can calibrate seed and fertiliser dispersal rates via tablet from inside the tractor or next to the airdrill, with the hoppers fitted with sensors and an electronic scale to monitor the shafts and bin levels.

The machine’s clever distribution model, featuring two 266mm fluted metering rollers, means servicing and accessing components of the airdrill is convenient and can be performed via inspection doors.

Shut off gates also allow rollers to be inspected or cleaned without the need for unloading. John Shearer says the complete distribution module is easily removed for servicing.

Operators have the choice between double disc openers, 630 tynes with super seeder points, and coil tynes with baker T blades to best suit different soil types.

Other features of the AS2400LT airdrill include the machine’s five-row frame to better maximise trash flow, as well as its large platform and hand rail.

Coulter, harrow and press-wheel kits are available as optional extras on the AS2400LT and can be tailored to each machine to meet specific conditions and requirements.

A Smart Ag systems GPS, Isobus electric drive systems, Augur kit and grass seed box are also optional when purchasing the airdrill.
