Deere upgrades 5M tractors with new 130hp model

A new 130hp model will join John Deere’s 5M tractor range in its 2023 model update, available for order later this year

More technology, more transmission options, and top-end horsepower are all included in John Deere’s redefined MY23 5M tractor range.

John Deere says the upgrades will provide Australian hay and livestock farmers with more telemetry and power in the field.

The 5M range spans five models including the 5075M, 5095M, 5105M, and 5120M models, along with the addition of the all new 5130M tractor – a 130-horsepower (96.9kW) offering.

All models in the 5M product line are powered by John Deere’s proven FT4 PowerTech engines.

The PowrQuad PLUS and Powr8 transmission is included as standard on the 5130M and are available as options on the 5095M, 5105M, and 5120M cab versions, helping operators better handle large implements in the field.

“PowrQuad PLUS and Powr8 transmissions make it easy for operators to find the right speed with clutchless, push-button shifting between gears, allowing them to focus on their work,” John Deere Australia and New Zealand production system manager Stephanie Gersekowski says.

“The hitch-lift capacity on 5M Tractors equipped with PowrQuad PLUS and Powr8 transmissions has also been increased, to better handle large implements.

“These features are especially beneficial when lifting and moving large objects such as hay bales and can increase operator productivity and safety.”

With more horsepower packed into the 5M lineup, Deere says operators are afforded more flexibility to use an extended range of 1000 rpm implements, such as mower-conditioners.

Models with the PowrReverser, PowrQuad PLUS and Powr9 transmissions will benefit from 1000rpm PTO.

Inside the cab, a built-in display on the dash features the integrated AutoTrac guidance system, boosting efficiency by reducing overlap – meaning fewer passes are required to cover the paddock fully.

“AutoTrac provides operators with straight-line guidance to help reduce implement overlap, to save on fuel and decrease fatigue,” Gersekowski says.

“No other utility tractor on the market offers this level of integrated guidance on a mid-spec utility tractor, meaning the 5M provides unmatched productivity potential.”

AutoTrac is Deere’s entry-level guidance system but can be further upgraded by plugging in a premium display for mapping and prescription-based applications.

A panoramic roof, for improved cab visibility, is also available as an option.

The redefined MY23 5M Tractors are available to order late 2022.
