Property of the Week | The Pyrenees Hotel, Lexton VIC

Nestled just two hours away from Melbourne, and 30 minutes North West of Ballarat sits the 19th century built Pyrenees Hotel

The Lexton based hotel is our first ever pub as our property of the week, and what can we say… what a find!

Established in 1859, the Pyrenees Hotel is constructed of solid brick which selling agent Josh Todd says is in terrific condition.

“The Pyrenees Hotel is literally solid brick and is incredibly structurally sound for its age,” he says.

This elegant hotel enjoys a vast floor area of around 375m2 (40 squares) and houses six upper level accommodation rooms with spacious lounge and two modern guest bathrooms.

The lower level hotel section houses a well-appointed bar, dining room which seats 50, a games/pool room and a comfortable manager’s residence.

The much needed renovation of the hotel has given the Pyrenees a modern touch, which is aesthetically pleasing on the eye.

“The Pyrenees Hotel has received a modern renovation, with the main feature being the updated rooms and the impressive stainless steel commercial kitchen,” Todd says.

Other features of the Pyrenees Hotel include the outside beer garden, the double-lock-up-garage/workshop and the historic police lock-up.

Pub competition is scarce in Lexton, which is a major main selling point of the hotel.

“The hotel garners a lot of local support but due to its highway location and also enjoys passing trade,” Todd says. “The hotel also has an enormous support base from the local community including the football club.”

The current husband and wife team are simply looking to new horizons according to Todd.

“The current owners have done their time here at the Pyrenees, and are looking to scale and settle down into the next phase of their life.”

Situated just a few kilometres from the site of the Rainbow Serpent festival, the music festival sees more than 20,000 visitors flock to Lexton every January. Due to the hotel’s close proximity to the festival, it goes without saying that the Pyrenees becomes a very busy and lucrative time for the operators.
