Silvan Australia has assembled its largest portfolio of protective and water transfer equipment ahead of the upcoming fire season
Victoria’s Country Fire Authority is warning of a serious summer fire season ahead, emphasizing the need for property owners to be well prepared.
Silvan will offer a range of engine powered pump and tank combinations, including fully equipped kits such as the Honda 5.5hp DX 150 petrol engine and Davey pump coupled kits. These are also available with 400, 600 or 800-litre Polytuff tank combinations.
For larger properties, the Silvan combination extends this to 1,100-litre on-road trailed firefighting units, which can be road-registered.
If you’re looking for something even bigger, Silvan does offer a 2,200-litre sled mounted combination for a vehicle tray. Both these versions include a 30-metre hose and heavy duty reel with an adjustable delivery nozzle fitted.
“In our review of every summer firefighting season, we receive reports of situations where property owners and managers were ill-prepared or waited until the fire was at their property boundary until they acted,” Silvan Australia’s merchandise manager Michael Frost says. “Most of our engine and pump combinations are a multi-use resource for managing early in the season,” he says.
This early management could include back burning, general water distribution for livestock, equipment wash down or irrigation needs.
“We always advise that the best approach is to be prepared and to secure firefighting needs before the summer arrives,” Frost adds. “We create this stocking situation every Spring when Silvan dealers and resellers nationally can offer prompt deliveries at very competitive pricing for all types of water transfer and fire management resources.”
