The row spacing system introduced on Tempo high speed planters developed by seeder manufacturer Väderstad has been recognised for its innovation in the prestigious Agritechnica Innovation Awards.
The product is one of 39 to be awarded a silver medal in the awards ahead of the exhibition, set to take place between November 10 and 16 in Hannover, Germany.

The Agritechnica Innovation Awards are judged by a panel of independent panel of agricultural scientists, researchers, consultants and primary producers appointed by the DLG (German Agricultural Society).
Claas Harvest Centre Product Manager – Väderstad, Murray Tuck, says the aptly-named WideLining system automatically adjusts the row spacing to create two 1050 mm wide tracks.
“Instead of shutting off row units to prepare tramlines to allow wide-tyred implements to pass through standing crops later in the season, the WideLining system changes the row spacing instead,” he says.
“The spacing between the four row units next to the tramlines automatically decreases from 750 mm to 600 mm, which has no impact on yield potential.”
Murray says the technology is an ideal complement to Tempo, which he says is the world’s fastest precision planter.
Väderstad manufactures an integrated range of high performance cultivators, drills and planers, including the Seed Hawk, Tempo and TopDown series.
